Free Buddhist Audio

Our hard working friends at Dharmachakra have now completed their greatly anticipated new website (with help from our very own Jayamuni with French translation!).

What a fabulous resource this is. This brings together hundreds of audio lectures by Sangharakshita and many other Order Members from 1965 right up to 2006 on a vast range of subjects and in a number of different languages.

Titles include "Initiation into the Alchemy of Love" and "Buddhism and the Natural World: Deep Ecology: Deep Dharma" not to mention a wide selection of lead meditations.

In addition to the audio material this site also brings together all of Sangharakshita's talks and seminar material in text format as well as transcriptions of talks by Chatrul Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche and Kamalashila to name but a few.

All of this material is available to download for free and we are given the opportunity to make a donation if we wish. There is something for everyone here.

Just click on "Free Buddhist Audio" in our Links section and enjoy!

Indian Pilgrimage 2007

The Cambridge Buddhist Centre is organising a Pigrimage to many of the sites associated with Sakyamuni Buddha. These will include Buddhagaya, Rajgiri, Sarnath, the Vultures Peak and the famous caves at Baja to name but a few.

The pilgrimage will be lead by an Order Member called Ratnaketu. He spends much of his time in India and is very experienced in leading pilgrimages.

The Dates will be either the first three weeks of October or the last three weeks of November.

Sounds exciting eh? I've already signed up!

If you'd like further information please contact Vajrapriya at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre.

New activities for the New Year

In the New Year you will notice a few adjustments in how we run FWBO Letchworth activities to try to respond to various changes over the last year or so.
1- Introduction to meditation course.
Jayamuni will start a 6 week introductory meditation course. It’s been more than a year that Sinhaketu has stopped his meditation course, which was supporting the Thursday class by feeding new people. It also gave people a chance to learn meditation in more depth, which is not as easy to do from the drop-in class. An introductory course also supports the practice of the regulars coming on Thursday as less time could be spend introducing the practices every week and more to meditation itself. Thanks a lot Sinhaketu for all the work and support over the years (and it goes back to several years before Letchworth itself!!!).
The venue and starting date have not yet been arranged. It would though be on the Thursday night, in parallel with the drop-in class, and in a different place from the Letchworth centre as they already run two other meditation courses. If successful, other courses will be regularly run.
2- Thursday drop-in/regulars class
With Jayamuni starting the meditation course, Rob and Martin will be leading the regulars Thursday class in the usual format. Other speakers will come to help and Jayamuni will also attend when possible between terms.
3- Study groups
Both study groups have come to the end of the so-called “Foundation year”.
The Monday study group will carry on and start the formal mitra study course. The first term will be “The Noble Eight-fold Path” and will be based on Sangharashita’s book “Vision and Transformation”.
The Tuesday study group (previously led by Jayasiddhi) is now too small. Unless more people join (they must be familiar with meditation and Buddhism and been coming for more than 6 months to the class) this group will stop for the time being but Jayamuni is prepared to lead it if there is sufficient interest. There are a few spaces on Mondays…

More announcements will be made soon as things develop. You can make your comments or ask questions by clicking on comments, right below, or talk to Rob, Martin or Jayamuni.
